Andy
Long ago and far away, out in the English country side. Andy, a brown bear, lived in an old farm house surrounded by fragrant flowers; hydrangeas, peonys, hollyhocks, daisys and, sweet peas, Andy loves to smell the sweet peas.
Andy and his best pal Chris ran all over the hills. Sometimes they picked wild flowers for Chris’ mother. It was a perfect place for a boy and his bear.
One day Andy and Chris ran and played until they were both tuckered out. They lay down under a big hickory tree for a nap. While they were sleeping a thunder storm came in. Up jumped Chris and ran all the way home not realizing he had left Andy.
The next day they went out and looked and looked for Andy. The following day they put posters in town. There was just no finding Andy!
Well, in the meantime there was a small black bear cub running for his cave and shelter. He saw Andy under the tree and grabbed him with his teeth. He took Andy into the cave and they were cuddled up with each other sleeping when mom came in. As long as it wasn’t another mouth to feed it was OK with her.
Now we all know bears sleep for a very long time. Little cubby was nice and warm all winter with Andy to cuddle. Mom was starting to take walks looking for berries. One day she came back very excited. She had found a big patch of olalee berries. She hurried her cub out of the cave and they went in chase of breakfast!
About that time there was a park ranger taking census of the bears. When he entered the cave he thought he had found an abandon baby bear. Realizing what it was he took it to his wife.
Now the ranger’s wife loved plushies and thought they each had their own personalities. BUT, when he gave her Andy all she could smell was a bear that had gone a long time without a bath.
Sooooooooooooooooo, Andy got his first bath. He was sprinkled with baby powder and then b rushed and b rushed until he looked new. He was then sprayed with “bear” perfume and given a pair of dungarees. He looked so fine. He was finally able to tell the lady his name—Andy. Now Andy had a forever home.
