I recently rescued an elephant plushie from the goodwill thrift store. I have never seen an elephant plushie before!

Actually, elephants are pretty common, as they were basically the first plushies. Margarete Steiff had started making elephant pincushions that were sort of the precursor to plushies. They're pretty popular because of that. She originally made them just as pincushions, but then kids started wanting them to play with. I used to have an elephant, and he was very soft and bally, but I parted with him a long time ago when I rehomed the plushies I wasn't attached to that were more just displayed.
