Does anybody else like to rescue bears/plushies from thrift stores or yard sales? I love going to yard sales especially because you'll never know what you'll find, and a lot of people don't know what they have and occasionally you can get some good bargains. I've never found an actual antique bear, but I have rescued some really cool ones that I loved, like my Lobo. I think the best bargain I got as far as finding a collectible toy was the time I found a Lee Middleton doll for $4. I was jazzed about that I can tell you. I'd love to find an actual pre-World War II teddy, but that may be a dream. If I do, y'all will be the first to know.
I enjoy rescuing them from thrift stores and yard sales though, because I feel like I'm giving them a second chance at love. I really feel bad for all the plushies that are unwanted by kids or collectors, and I like to bring them here to my pack so I can squuz them and tell them everything's okay and they'll be happy here. I know, I'm a big ol' sap.

Aww very nice. I did that when I first started collecting seriously, but I've slowed down a lot because space is limited and also, it seems like when I get a bunch of them at once I don't really bond with them like I do when I just get a few. Usually I try to limit it to one or two per trip. The last time I really came out with a bunch was at the doll and bear show but that was mostly dolls.
